How to find the Qibla in Thatta
- Open the compass on your phone and hold it flat, away from metal and electronics.
- Turn until the compass reads 268.4° — that is the Qibla from Thatta.
- In simple words: face West and turn about 1.6° to the left (towards South).
Phone compasses show magnetic North, which in Pakistan differs from true North by only a few degrees — close enough for prayer. Another method: on about 28 May at 2:18 PM and 16 July at 2:27 PM (Pakistan time) the sun is directly above the Kaaba, so at that moment the Qibla is exactly towards the sun.
